Ras Al Khaimah is one of the UAE's best-kept secrets. While Dubai and Abu Dhabi buzz with noise and movement, RAK offers something rare: mountains, coastline, stillness, and space. It is, I believe, one of the most naturally suited places in the world to practise yoga.
I've been based here for years, teaching on the beach at sunrise and in private sessions with students from RAK, Dubai, and all over the world via Zoom. And I've watched something happen here that I haven't seen anywhere else — people genuinely slow down.
The pace of life in Ras Al Khaimah is different. There's a reason people drive up from Dubai just to breathe. The Hajar mountains. The mangroves. The long, quiet coastline at Mina Al Arab. The feeling of space that's increasingly rare in the UAE.
For a yoga practice rooted in nervous system healing — in slowing down, tuning in, and learning to rest — RAK is an ideal home. When you practice Yin Yoga here, you're not fighting the environment to find stillness. The environment meets you in it.
I teach on the beach at sunrise several mornings a week — and it is unlike any studio experience. The sound of the water, the early morning light, the salt air. Your nervous system responds before you've even begun to move. The body softens. The breath deepens. Something in you remembers how to rest.
If you're based in RAK or visiting, this is an experience I would encourage you to find — whether with me or on your own. Simply bring a mat to the beach at 6am and breathe. The sea does half the work.
RAK has a growing expat community — British, European, South Asian — many of whom are looking for wellness practices that feel genuine rather than performative. Yoga that isn't about Instagram. Teaching that isn't about achieving the perfect pose.
This is what I offer. Private sessions — in person in RAK or on Zoom for clients worldwide — that are built entirely around you. Your body. Your history. Your nervous system. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, chronic stress, or simply the weight of living far from home, there is a practice here for you.
I offer private 1:1 Yin Yoga sessions and a 4-Week Private Programme on Zoom for clients worldwide. Based in Ras Al Khaimah. British Wheel of Yoga qualified. 10+ years teaching.
One of the most beautiful things about teaching online is that I can bring this quality of stillness — this RAK energy — to students anywhere in the world. I have worked with clients in the UK, USA, Australia, and across the UAE. All from a quiet room in Ras Al Khaimah.
Zoom has made geography irrelevant. If you want to work with a teacher who is genuinely invested in your nervous system, who will design a practice around your specific body and life, you don't need to travel to RAK — though I'd recommend it. You just need a mat, a device, and the willingness to begin.
With love, Allya 🤍
